Salute to Illinois Scholars
New recruitment collaboration with SIU-C, SIU-E, and EIU
The System's 30-year old Salute to Academic Achievement program
for recruitment of students of color served as a model for a new effort
to recruit students from downstate, particularly with the goal of
keeping Illinois students in Illinois. The Salute to Illinois Scholars,
held in Mt. Vernon in September 2017, is a first-time collaboration
with the University of Illinois System, the Southern Illinois University
System (Carbondale and Edwardsville) and Eastern Illinois University.
